SALES AND MARKETING MANAGER

Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa (FTTSA) is an independent initiative of the South Africa country office of the IUCN (World Conservation Union). FTTSA contributes to the mission, vision and objectives of IUCN by promoting sustainable and equitable tourism, primarily through the award of a special trademark to tourism businesses that comply with fair trade principles and criteria. Through the Trademark and related marketing activities, FTTSA is able to link responsible tourism businesses with appropriate consumer and trade markets. FTTSA is expanding its operations and needs to appoint a Sales and Marketing Manager, who is passionate about tourism and keen to make his/her mark in the non-profit sector. The appointment will be on an annual fixed-term contract basis, and is located at the IUCN-South Africa offices in Hatfield, Pretoria.

Summary: The Sales and Marketing Manager position requires a creative and hands-on marketer with the desire and ability to work in a non-profit setting. A passion for “fair trade” issues is essential.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years marketing experience
  • Previous experience working in tourism industry
  • Strong marketing, sales and public relations skills
  • Excellent project management and implementation skills
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to lead and work in teams
  • Code 08 Driver’s License and own transport
  • Computer skills

    Duties -- The successful candidate will be required to:

    Implement all aspects of the FTTSA Marketing Strategy and regularly review marketing and sales activities

    Develop and implement a Product Acquisition Plan

    Position and strengthen the FTTSA brand, nationally and internationally

    Manage the marketing budget and source sponsorships, discounts and other in-kind contributions

    Build value-adding partnerships with clients and industry stakeholders

    Plan and implement joint marketing activities

    Identify research needs and facilitate market research

    Lead the FTTSA marketing team

    Oversee the development, production and updating of sales, presentation, communications and marketing tools.

    Oversee the management of the FTTSA client database.
